CRYOSCAN3D AND CRYOVIZION EXAMINATIONS
For accurate footprints and a detailed, objective postural assessment.
During your visit, your podiatrist On our site, we use the term podiatrist as a general reference to all qualified professionals using our technology, regardless of their official title in their province, country, or region. will perform a thorough assessment of your foot health and biomechanics. If needed, they may recommend orthotics to help correct any dysfunction and enhance your overall comfort and mobility. In addition to examining the feet, your podiatrist uses the CryoVizion Imaging System to better assess and measure postural and biomechanical problems. As the feet are at the very base of your posture, they may be the source of a postural imbalance, or they may be adapting or reacting to it. At your first appointment, expect to have your posture analysed using the CryoVizion imaging system.CRYOSCAN3D

Why do I need orthotics? / How can orthotics help?
Foot orthotics are used to provide support, alignment, and relief for various foot-related issues. They can help correct biomechanical imbalances, reduce pain from conditions like plantar fasciitis or flat feet, and improve overall comfort while walking or standing. Athletes may use orthotics to enhance performance and prevent injuries, while individuals with diabetes or arthritis may benefit from improved pressure distribution.
How are orthotics prescribed?
If your podiatrist determines that you could benefit from orthotics, then they will take a 3D scan of your feet as well as create a prescription to create orthotics that treat your specific needs.
These are then sent to Cryos Technologies who process the information to create your 100% customised orthotics.
What is the CryoScan3D?
The CryoScan3D is a revolution in 3D foot scanning combining reliable, repeatable foot positioning with an ultra-precise 3D scanner.
Your podiatrist will place your foot onto a silicone membrane and adjust the pressure as required. They will then position your foot into the optimal position before activating the scan where a precise 3D laser scanning system will capture tens of thousands of measurements from multiple angles to recreate the unique 3D geometry of your foot.
How do I prepare for my first CryoScan3D appointment?
For your first appointment, please bring a few pairs of shoes or boots that you wear regularly. If possible, you should also bring a pair of old, worn-out shoes. This will allow your podiatrist to see where the wear is. This is an excellent source of additional information. Finally, wear light, comfortable clothes, shorts if possible, so that you can move around easily during the biomechanical examination.
Why do I need a 3D scan?
3D scans are required to create an orthotic that perfectly matches the unique shape of your foot. The better the scan, the more effective the treatment. That’s why CryoScan3D‘s cutting-edge technology makes it possible to take ultra-precise scans to an accuracy of 0.4mm ensuring a perfect fit every time!
Why take a 3D scan instead of a plaster cast or foam box mould?
As opposed to an artisanal plaster cast or foam box impression, a 3D scan can quickly, cleanly and accurately capture the unique geometry of your foot. The scan can then be instantly uploaded to the laboratory for a quick turn around.
Why choose Cryos orthotics?
Made-to-measure foot orthoses are a personalised treatment that evolves over time. Cryos orthotics stand out for their flexion-extension movement, comfort, small size and versatility. Because they fit snugly around the feet without restricting movement, they are recognised as the most adaptive orthoses on the market. This advantage is due to the three-dimensional impressions taken and the semi-loaded technique. Thanks to the greater precision achieved, and therefore better conformity to the morphology of your feet, fewer adjustments are required afterwards.
What’s the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?
In some regions such as Ontario, foot care professionals may use the title chiropodist or podiatrist. This distinction stems from local historical regulations.
While scope of practice and training can vary, both are highly qualified professionals specialized in foot health. On our site, we use the term podiatrist as a general reference to all qualified professionals using our technology, regardless of their official title in their province, country, or region.
CryoVizion Examination
What is postural imaging?
This is a measurement tool that can be used to confirm the physical examination, but above all to validate certain information that is invisible to the naked eye. In practical terms, this technology produces coloured images of your musculoskeletal system in real time. So, you can see how the different parts of your body interact with your feet! Your podiatrist can check that your body’s alignment is correct and observe any postural changes before and after using the orthotics.
What are the advantages of imaging?
In the health sector, imaging is frequently used because of its precision and objectivity. What’s more, it provides immediate results, speeding up the postural analysis process. With images, you can more easily understand your condition and monitor the progress of your treatment over time by seeing the images taken before (without orthotics) and after.
What is CryoVizion?
This is the imaging system developed by Cryos Technologies to analyse your body’s posture. This tool is renowned for its high accuracy, reliability and the quality of the information and measurements it provides. Its effectiveness has been scientifically validated by the Université de Montréal, and it is also registered with Health Canada and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
How does CryoVizion work?
This system uses the reflection of light on the skin to map the patient’s postural state. It consists of a sufficiently spacious cabin into which the patient enters standing up and can move around easily. Inside, a thick curtain covers the wall behind which the imaging system is installed. In this way, only a blurred, coloured image of the patient’s silhouette is visible on the screen. Once inside the booth, the patient can remove theirr clothes, leaving only their underwear on, in complete privacy and safety.
The operator will then instruct you on the various positions to stand in to fully assess your posture.
Lights will illuminate the cabin and the cameras on the CryoVizion Imaging System will capture their reflected light from your skin before applying the CryoVizion filter to reveal your bodies underlying posture, highlighting, for example, the loads, imbalances and compensations in play. The CryoVizion Imaging System then displays the results in the form of detailed, coloured images, and your health care professional will then analyse them with you.
N.B. Before proceeding with this examination, you will be asked to sign an authorisation form for the images to be taken. In addition, depending on your condition, your podiatrist may ask you to pull down your underwear in order to take a posterior view of your pelvis. You are free to refuse at any time if you are uncomfortable.
Is CryoVizion safe?
The CryoVizion Imaging System is purely optical in nature and emits no radiation. Thanks to its light reflection system, this postural assessment technology is totally safe.
What postural abnormalities can be identified by postural imaging?
Your podiatrist may carry out a postural assessment to identify the following dysfunctions:
- Asymmetry of the pelvis
- A misalignment
- A pelvic tilt
- An uneven leg (or a longer leg)
- Knees bent inwards or outwards
- General asymmetry of posture
What is the impact of postural imbalance?
Poor ergonomics at work, trauma, injury, a hereditary factor or a new physical activity that modifies posture can be the source of almost daily pain and greatly affect quality of life. Inadequate posture can also cause parts of the musculoskeletal system to compensate, leading to new pathologies.
How do I prepare for my first CryoVizion appointment?
For your first appointment, please bring a few pairs of shoes or boots that you wear regularly. If possible, also bring a pair of old, worn-out shoes, as this will allow your podiatrist to see the wear pattern. It’s an excellent source of additional information. Finally, wear light, comfortable clothes, shorts if possible, so that you can move around easily during the biomechanical examination.
As the CryoVizion Imaging System images the surface of your skin to help determine your underlying postural health, the images should be taken with as much skin visible as possible – ideally in your underwear.
You will have the privacy of the cabin and the only images that leave the system are filtered with the CryoVizion Imaging filter.
If you have any concerns with this process, please feel free to discuss them with your foot care team.
